Wandering is one of the most concerning behaviors associated with dementia. It’s often driven by restlessness, a search for familiarity, or even an unmet need. If left unaddressed, wandering can lead to serious dangers as the individual puts themselves in disorientating situations fraught with risk.
Caregivers who understand the underlying causes can implement strategies to prevent wandering and provide a more secure environment.
