A safe haven during a crisis

On Dec. 11, a large fire broke out at the StoneWood Condominium complex at 100 Richards Ave. in Norwalk, displacing dozens of people from their homes. Located across the street at 123 Richards Ave., Bridges by EPOCH at Norwalk invited those displaced neighbors, as well as First Responders on the scene, into their building that night, providing them with a warm place to gather for as long as they needed. Roberto Pagan, Bridges by EPOCH at Norwalk’s chef, fired up the stove, preparing soup, sandwiches, cookies and coffee for their guests. Special thanks to Roberto, as well as Bridges by EPOCH at Norwalk’s Wellness Director, Kim Russo, and Maintenance Director, Lewis Spero, for their help in making sure neighbors and First Responders were comfortable and cared for inside Bridges by EPOCH at Norwalk’s walls. Following the fire, Bridges by EPOCH at Norwalk received a letter from Norwalk’s Acting Fire Chief, Gino Gatto, who thanked them for the support they provided. The Norwalk Police Union Local 1727 also thanked the community by sending them a beautiful basket of fruit and chocolate.

On Dec. 19, Bridges by EPOCH at Norwalk welcomed those First Responders back to their community for cookies and coffee to show their appreciation for the vital services First Responders provide to the local community 365 days a year.
