Meet Our Team: Barbara Flynn, Wellness Director

We recently welcomed Barbara Flynn, RN, to our Wellness team at Bridges® by EPOCH at Westwood. With 20 years’ experience working in senior care as a Director of Nursing, nearly half of which has been spent working in memory care, Barbara has brought a wealth of knowledge to the Bridges® by EPOCH family. As Wellness Director, Barbara’s duties include overseeing our nursing team, managing service plans, assessments and medication for our residents, and acting as a liaison between our physicians and other health partners who visit our community (podiatrist, dentist, physical therapist, etc.)

“Before I came to Bridges, I worked in an equivalent position at another memory care community for eight years, so the transition came very naturally for me,” Barbara said. “I really appreciate all the support I receive in my role here at Bridges. I have felt respected and valued since day one, and I work with an amazing team. Everyone here is willing to go above and beyond to make sure our residents are happy and safe. That is by far the most important thing to all staff, and it’s the reason we provide exceptional care.”

Barbara began working with seniors at a young age, volunteering at a nursing home when she was in high school. “I knew early on that I loved working with seniors,” she said. After becoming an RN in 1995, Barbara worked at a nearby assisted living community, where she learned she had a particular affinity for memory care residents. “People with dementia have so much to offer,” she said. “It’s very rewarding to care for them, to help them live their fullest and happiest lives.” This eventually spurred Barbara to transition to a Director of Nursing role at another memory care community, where she worked for nearly a decade before coming to Westwood. We’re very lucky to have her at our community to oversee the health and wellness of our residents. Thank you for all that you do, Barbara!
