The Rising Star Award honors local professionals under the age of 40 who demonstrate exemplary leadership in the community. Sarah was recognized for the passion, compassion and leadership she brings to her role as Director of Community Relations at Bridges by EPOCH at Westford.
Sarah regularly goes above and beyond her duties, not only providing guidance to families as they consider memory care assisted living for their loved one, but also bringing them meals, sending activity ideas and even bringing programs to their homes to help them better engage with their loved one. Additionally, Sarah educates the public on dementia through community presentations and appearances on local television stations, including Westford Community Access Television. In 2018, Sarah will begin hosting a regular show on WestfordCAT with Bridges by EPOCH at Westford’s Executive Director, Erica Labb. The show, titled “Bridges to Community: Connecting Seniors with Better Living,” will cover topics related to aging and dementia.
Sarah began working with memory-impaired individuals at the age of 17, when she served as a housekeeper on the memory care unit at a senior living community. She went on to become an award-winning programming director, designing and leading daily life enrichment activities for residents living with dementia at Bridges by EPOCH at Hingham and Bridges by EPOCH at Westwood. In 2015, Sarah was named to Provider Magazine’s 20 to Watch list, which profiles senior care professionals who go above and beyond in their jobs. In 2017, she won the Excellence Award in Program Innovation from the Massachusetts Assisted Living Association. Learn more about Sarah and her prior accomplishments here.
